English Breakfast Tea

Sipping English Breakfast tea on this muggy August morning. For some reason I love hot beverages all year round. Must be the ritual of it. You know, pouring, brewing, stirring, sipping, cradling the mug and oh, the best part, dunking! I love to dunk fresh bread and toast and biscuits (graham crackers an especial favorite, even though they tend to disintegrate and sink to the bottom...uh, that's what the spoon is for) into my hot tea.

Blah, blah, blogging away

Saw a mouse skitter across the kitchen floor last night. Of course, Tom is out of town. I decided to let him deal with it when he gets home tomorrow. This shit only happens when he's away. Like last week when Shady peed on the rug in our bedroom and then puked on the living room floor. Or the time he shat all over his crate, and we're not talking about the nice easy-to-clean up kind. It happened at midnight and I was already asleep. I had gotten up to go to the bathroom and was assaulted by a strong scent of poop. At first I thought it might be Jack's diaper, but as I descended the stairs the smell intensified. As I got closer to Shady's crate, I almost fell over. Of course, Tom was in Utah on business. But it was only 9:00 pm there so I called him and put him on speaker phone and made him go through the ordeal with me.

I dragged the crate (with Shady still in it--he weighs about 60 pounds) and then let him outside onto the deck. Then I got the hose and hosed him down as well as the crate. I'm not going to lie to you. It was a dirty job. But Tom was a great coach and stayed on the line until I had it all clean. Ugh, just remembering it is making me gag. At least cleaning his anal glands is not an emergency job. That one falls under Tom's jurisdiction. No ifs, ands or butts (heh) about it. I don't care if Shady is about to explode. I'm not sticking my hand up where the sun don't shine.

How's that for my first post? All scattalogical and juvenile. Nice. At least the only place to go from here is up.

Signing off...
